Two workshops this year.

Day of Missionary Helpdesk
Title: Day of Missionary Helpdesk This is a workshop preparing for the Day of Missionary Helpdesk
Presenter(s): Tim Young
Abstract: 1-day workshop (Tuesday Afternoon (1/2 day) and Wednesday Morning (1/2 day)).

At ICCM 2008, we had a session where we discussed the

possibility of having a day of missionary helpdesk. Using Bomgar and other tools, we are looking at coordinating a day where we have many small IT teams at churches, each team "headed" by an ICCMer. We are hoping to be able to have these IT people working on missionary computers around the globe, under the supervision of a "trusted" friend from ICCM. The hoped-for outcome would be for techies all around the USA to understand more about missions & more about the mission of the ICCMer that invited them, that the missionary has their computer problems fixed as per their mission's computer policy, that ICCMers have an opportunity to work side-by-side, that Bomgar gets some publicity (they will be offering us free bandwidth/accounts for all of this), that ICCM gets some publicity, and that the churches involved will have a better understanding of IT and missions.

To make this happen, there is a lot of security and policy issues to discuss. We plan to spend some of our time developing agreed upon parameters for the work, as well as spending time actually servicing some missionary laptops so the ICCMers have a chance to develop a respect for each-other's helpdesk capabilities and a trust that they will adhere to each-other's standards. The initial days of Missionary Helpdesk will most likely have participation limited to organizations that had attendees at this workshop (we are trying to develop a trust of leaders, and so we will be working with the leaders we have grown to "trust"). We will be looking to understand what is needed to keep the trust factor there to allow other IT people to fix missionary computers, which means we cannot yet determine if/how we can open the day of missionary repair to people who have not attended. But we will be trying to broaden the scope of this capability to service as many people as it can."

Virtulization using VMWare
Title: Virtulization using VMWare Virtualization with VMware (with applicaiton to Xen and other Virtualization platforms, but concentrating on VMware)
Presenter(s): Carl Armstrong
Abstract: 1-day workshop (Tuesday Afternoon (1/2 day) and Wednesday Morning (1/2 day)).

Have you heard all about the benifits of virtualization and you want to take advantage of it, but are unsure of the first steps and where they will lead? This workshop is for you.

With Citrix's recent announcment of making 80% of the XenServer suite free, it really provides enterprise features for free. So we have to consider XenServer as well.

We will be covering:
1. Benifits of Virtualizaiton.
2. Hands on installation of VMware and/or XenServer.
3. Comparison of XenServer and VMware. (Both are Great and have thier advantages)
4. Networking configuraiton for Virtualization (both Xen and VMware)
5. Backing up VMs.
6. Comaprisons of NFS, SAN, iSCSI
7. Management of Virtual Machines.
8. Increasing Fault Tolerance.
9. VMotion and XenMotion. (Live migration of VM's between physcical servers)
10. High Availability
11. Comparison of different versions of each software and which version is right for you.
12. Lots of Question and Answer time.

Hands on Labs:
1. Install of VMware and XenServer.
2. Install of XenCenter and VirtualCenter.
3. Connection to NFS drive.
4. XenMotion and VMotion.
5. Networking configuraiton.
